Kate Potter: Mother, Wife, Model, Health/Wellness Junkie and so much more...

Obviously, you are more than a model. If asked your job title, what would you say and how would you describe yourself?

Mother, wife, model, health and wellness junkie.

Height: 5”8

Agency: One.1 Model Management Instagram: Katepotter1 Hometown: Minneapolis MN

You are such a beautiful woman; tell us about your journey to becoming a model and how you were discovered?

Thank you! Modeling has always been a dream of mine ever since I was a little girl. There is not much of a fashion/modeling scene where I came from so after I finished a couple years of college I decided to try and contact some agencies in NY, LA, and Europe. I sent my profile with non professional photos to many agencies around the world for almost a year with no response. One day I got a reply from an agency in LA. Long story short I moved out there 3 months later and have been doing it ever since!

Have you always led a healthy and active lifestyle? If not, what made you change. Was there a defining moment?

For the most part. My mom used to be a chef before my sisters and I were born so we grew up eating a lot of healthy, delicious food. ( I didn't appreciate it until I grew much older) I loved being active and playing outside as a child. As I grew older and got into modeling I was working out off and on but did a lot of yo yo dieting. It wasn't until I was pregnant with my daughter that I realized I wanted to be healthy and more mindful of what I was putting in my body. Ever since then I have become so enamored with healthy eating, exercise, meditation, and overall wellness.

How has your life changed since becoming a Mom?

Honestly I don't think much has changed. I still do a lot of the things I did during my pregnancy and before I just include her in my activities! Daisy loves to watch me workout, cook, and do target and grocery runs!

What is your work out routine, do you go to the gym?

I mostly work out at home. I do weights, pilates, and yoga. I take Barre class on weekends when my husband is able to watch our daughter. I love Barre! I did it my whole pregnancy up until the day before I had her!

What motivates you?

My daughter, my husband, and living a healthy lifestyle.

Who are your role models/ name some women who inspire you?

My husband, Christy Brinkley, Gabby Bernstein, and Louise Haye just to name a few.

Do you have any upcoming projects you are working on that you would like to tell us about?

I have a 10 page editorial coming out in Shape magazine next month which is a huge accomplishment for me. I shot it 5 months after my daughter was born :)

What are your favorite foods to eat?

Mexican, green drinks, Thai food and chocolate! As a Model and Mom, we know every day is different, describe your favorite day…?

Waking up on the weekends and cooking breakfast/ hanging with my family then doing my daily workout.

Define what being a Model means to you?

Being a model means so much to me. It was my life long dream that I got to fulfill for many years. Modeling brought me to New York City where I met the man of my dreams and married and then shortly after gave birth to my beautiful daughter. As a little girl I remember how bad I wanted to be in magazines and be the girl people looked up to and admired. ( I was made fun a lot in grade school for my freckles and red hair.) I remember when I was in school I saw a GUESS ad in a magazine. The model had a ton of freckles and a gap in her teeth! I had always disliked these qualities in myself because thats why other kids made fun of me. After seeing that ad I thought to myself wow, she is BEAUTIFUL! You know what maybe I can do this too?? I am going to go for it, why not!

As a model, Mom, and a Mentor, what advice do you have for new models starting in their career or for young women just starting out on a new endeavor?

The Sky is the Limit! There were so many reasons I could have told myself why modeling or other things in my life wouldn't have worked out. If there were 3 things I could tell myself as young girl that I know now they would be:

1.) Love and accept yourself. All parts of yourself. The times you do well and the times you don't do so well. The times when you are a winner or times when you are embarrassed.

We are all human and make mistakes but it is so important to love yourself through the good and the bad- all of it.

2.) Don’t dwell on things and stop living in the past. There is nothing we can do to change where we have been or what we have done. What is important is living in the now and being present in the moment.

3.) Be positive in everything that you do and have fun!!
